Every International Women's Day, brands find different ways to celebrate women. Many times, it is performative. Other times, it is impactful. Some brands have missed the mark vying for popularity/creativity contest every March 8th, entirely missing the point - making sure women achieve gender equity.
If you are a creator, a founder, or the person behind a brand, here's a tip: Instead of paying lip service for a trend, ask yourself - What can we do as a brand to help women achieve gender equity? If you don't know the answer, partner/fund/support with someone who is doing something about it. Enough talk, more action.
If you are a woman, Apply! Apply! Apply!
If you are a man, share this with a woman in your life.
With Love,
Blessing Abeng
